Massage therapy is a great career.  People who graduate from massage school have a variety of different options when it comes to their career.  They have the ability not only to choose what setting they would like to massage in but they also have a choice of what type of clientele they would like to massage.  Some people enjoy massing middle aged or elderly clients while some people enjoy massaging children.

Massaging children is not the same as massaging adults.  Children who receive massages generally have special health care needs, are hospitalized or have been diagnosed with a terminal illness and are in hospice care.  When massaging a child, you must be able to meet each child at their level and respect their personal space.  You should be respectful of the child.  There is also a correct way of touch used for children that is different that the way to touch adults.  All pediatric massage therapists should understand personal boundaries, safety guidelines and considerations for working in a medical setting including infection control and patient privacy.  Becoming a pediatric massage therapist can be a rewarding career if you take the time to familiarize yourself techniques for children.

If you are interested in becoming a massage therapist, contact Space Coast Health Institute at 321-308-8000 to find out more about their program.
